Beachcoma started around 1980, Ian and Jem would get together for a bit of a jam playing some JJ Cale, Dire Straits, and some Shadows tunes, Nigel joined later bringing the sound from a late 1950's Hofner President Bass, and then things went the way of fast moving Surf style of music which then became there very own

This was the beginning of COMA.....

In the early years of the band they used to get together with a friend called Jic on drums rehearsing in the Cellar and performing a few gigs around the area, then we heard about this young chap called Dave
(commonly known as Chaz these days) he jumped at the chance to play with the Band

Coma then went on and did many gigs in their short 4 - 5 years together, and can claim a large amount of fans, and support.

While recording the Shotgun E P it was the record company who asked the boys to change their name to "BeachComa"

At the top of the page is the original sleeve design for the single that was released in 1983

On the Shotgun E P were 3 tracks, 2 originals from BeachComa and their arrangement of Wipeout by the Surfaris

With many radio plays all around the world and in the UK, including Radio 1 - 2, Radio Caroline, Radio London, and Piccadilly Radio who used Shotgun as a jingle.

Playing Cross Channel Ferries, Hospitals, American Airbases and on the back of a few trucks at Carnivals.
With over 100 gigs in one year sometimes 2 in an evening.

They also featured on a compilation CD "Hang 11" released all over Europe and later to the biggest Surf Music fan base in the world in Japan, they made their mark on

"Surf music"

BeachComa will be very well remembered for that very sound they can call their own.
